These are the times of a New Normal.

Like any other citizen, I’ve spent most of my time these days indoors and headed outdoors only for a breath of fresh air, a brief walk or in search for household essentials. Yesterday, I literally did not move off the couch unless I was hungry, reaching for the remote, use the bathroom, sleep and then do it over again until bedtime. Today was different. I finally caught the “cabin fever”. Aching to move, I decided to drive out to Pasadena to get myself an authentic Venezuelan food.

I left early in the morning to get a head start to my day only to find myself without traffic and arriving to my destination in less than an hour. I was stunned. This was the first time I’ve ever seen the freeway traffic free, ever!

I arrived in downtown Pasadena partly hungry and uneasy. I strolled my way through several closed stores where I saw through the windows with their lights off, chairs piled on top of the tables, clothing racks untouched, books neatly placed on the shelves and the rooms dark. A few restaurants on the streets was open with “take out only” signs posted on their doors including the restaurant I ordered my lunch at. I could not ignore the eerie feeling I felt as I walked towards the restaurant.

On the upside, once I arrived to the restaurant I was greeted cheerfully by 2 employees behind the counter. I appreciated their positivity in return during this difficult times. I paid my lunch and took my meal home back to netflix for the rest of the day.

Trick or Twat

I can’t remember the last time I dressed up for Halloween. The older I get, the more I seem to cherish my time alone. Call me old folk if, you will. In contrary, this year is different. I’ve been invited to a work related Halloween party held at Orange County Mining Co. Restaurant. Word around town, this place apparently has one of the best views in Orange County. I guess I can’t complain, free booze and food at a party with a great view, I’m all in….or so I thought. Continue reading “Trick or Twat”

A Sunday Tea Affair

The affair started a year ago. A group of us used to work together where we bonded over work drama and secretly meeting at restaurants to run away from our daily stressful lives at work. Somehow, we outgrew meeting at random restaurants over the months and one day, we decided to meet at a tea house. The affair became much deeper. I wasn’t quite sure if it was the love for tea or food or both but, since our first rendezvous at The Tea House on Los Rios, we knew we had to keep our tea meetings going.  Continue reading “A Sunday Tea Affair”

Dinner in the Middle of the Desert: Zack Restaurant

If I had to pick a local hang out restaurant in the East Escape, where you can keep returning to on a regular basis everyday and anytime, it would be Zack’s Restaurant. In compare to Buzzards Restaurant, Zack would be the big brother that offers a heftier menu, convenient schedule, more space and all around a mix between Mexican and American style. BUZZing Around

AH. The 80 degree weather hits me with open arms as I made my way out of the SJD airport. It has been two years since the last time I was in Baja and I can’t tell you how happy I am to be here. The air, smell, sound and everything about Mexico screams excitement in my head. There’s just an unexplainable happy feeling I get whenever I am in another country. Can anyone relate to this? Restaurants worth to try in Milan for Guests.

Last weekend my parents came to visit me and I was stressed. Generally, I know what my visitors like or don’t like. My parents, on the other hand, require a certain type of attention. One of those things is finding the right place to eat as both have very particular tastes in food and environment. Before their arrival, I spent some time looking on the internet for ideas but, I didn’t find anything up to par with their taste. Anyway, I took a chance and I made suggestions base on instincts. Luckily, for the most part it worked. Continue reading “Restaurants worth to try in Milan for Guests.”
