To kick off the day, we started with breakfast at Zinc Cafe, one of my all-time favorite spots in town. It has been a go-to spot for me for years, and every visit is a trip down memory lane. Since Covid, they’ve expanded their seating arrangements, and now they have a larger outdoor seating. We got there early and were able to find a seat right away. We ordered their famous currant scone, avocado toast, and a turmeric latte, and let me tell you, it was delicious! Their scones are my favorite, along with their oatmeal, quiche, and granola.

After our scrumptious breakfast, we headed to Top of the World park, which offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding landscape. This was my second visit, and I was excited to show my boyfriend this incredible spot. You can check out my previous post about it here.
The park has several hiking trails with different difficulty levels, depending on your fitness level. The trails are named after the canyons they lead to, such as West Ridge Trail, Top of the World Trail, and Car Wreck Trail. Each trail offers unique features, so choose one that suits your preferences and fitness level. Make sure to wear hiking shoes, bring plenty of water, snacks, and a hat. There is barely any shade around, so be prepared if you go on a hot day. You can easily spend 1-3 hours here, depending on how long you want to hike for.
To get to the park, you can enter the park’s name on Google Maps, and it will take you to the main entrance. Alternatively, you can park near Pageant of the Masters and take the neighborhood route to the park. There are parking lots at Alta Laguna Park, but they fill up quickly unless you arrive before 9 am. You can also park in the neighborhood, but make sure not to block driveways.
When you enter the park, you’re immediately greeted with a panoramic view of the city that will take your breath away. Christian was in awe and couldn’t believe he’d never been here before. We spent about an hour leisurely walking, enjoying the views, and taking pictures. We decided to head back as we were tired from our previous day’s event and wanted to take it slow. On our way out, a ranger informed us that the park was closed due to recent rain conditions. It’s always a good idea to stay informed when planning your visit to the park. Be sure to visit the park’s website for the most up-to-date information and important announcements.

For an unforgettable adventure in Orange County, California, make sure to add Top of the World park to your hiking list. With stunning views and trails for all skill levels, this spot is a must-visit for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts.
