Southern California is a paradise for adventure seekers, with its consistent 75-85 degrees Fahrenheit weather all year round. If you’re looking for an outdoor adventure, there’s no shortage of options, from hitting the beach to lounging by the pool or hiking through the hills. Just last week, my roommate and I decided to take on the Top of The World hike in Laguna Beach. Even though I thought I’d been there before, I was surprised to discover a new area to explore.
Top of The World is located at the north end of Laguna Beach and sits a thousand feet above sea level, offering stunning panoramic views of the city. To get there, we had to drive through a slightly windy street on a neighborhood road, but it was worth it once we reached the top and parked.
Once we arrived, we found several hiking paths with signs at every turn, making it easy to navigate even for someone like me who has a terrible sense of direction. We opted to take the car crash route, which turned out to be a narrow pathway with plenty of rocks and loose gravel. It was challenging, but the views along the way were breathtaking.
As we were hiking, we met a guy coming up the path who warned us that it was not meant for sightseeing but for a good and challenging workout. He hadn’t even made it to the bottom of the path, and we were glad we were going down and not up!
As we descended further, we came across a real car that had crashed on the path, which I thought was just a name for the trail! At the end of the trail, we had a choice to go back up the same way or keep going. My legs were sore, but we decided to keep going and eventually found our way back to the top.
If you’re looking for a good hike with different routes to take, Top of The World is a must-visit spot in Laguna Beach. It’s perfect for beginners or experienced hikers who want to challenge themselves with the various routes available. Don’t forget to bring plenty of water and snacks for the journey!
